WEEKEND IN VIEW
Good Saturday morning, New England! It’s a soggy start to the day as rain moved through overnight, leaving us with wet conditions across the region. The weekend will feature cloudy skies and noticeably cooler temperatures, with highs topping out in the 30s and 40s. But here’s the kicker – we’re experiencing a significant temperature divide across New England today. While the northern parts of the region are stuck in the chilly 30s, down in Connecticut, they’re basking in temperatures soaring into the 70s!
For the rest of us here in the Boston area and beyond, expect the cooler side of things. There’s a chance for scattered showers throughout the day, although we’ll also see some dry breaks. If you’re heading out, keep an umbrella handy, as you could be caught in a brief shower at any moment.
Up north, things are a little more complicated. We’re keeping an eye on the higher elevations of northern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire, where we are expecting a wintry mix of sleet, freezing rain, and a few snowflakes. The biggest concern in these areas will be the potential for icy conditions, which could make for slick roads. To make sure everyone is prepared, a Winter Weather Advisory is in place for parts of northern Massachusetts, while a Winter Storm Warning is in effect for parts of southern New Hampshire through Sunday morning. These are issued to highlight the risk of hazardous travel and the possibility of power outages due to ice accumulation.
As we move into the evening, more rain and wintry mix will return, and it will continue into the early hours of Sunday. Fortunately, Sunday will bring a bit of a break, with clouds hanging around and cooler temperatures, but most of the day should stay dry.
By Sunday night, we’ll see another round of rain moving in from the west, and this will carry over into Monday.
NEXT WEEK
Monday will bring a bit of a warm-up, with highs reaching the mid-60s, but it won’t be all sunshine. A cold front will approach during the day, bringing a heavier rain event later in the day, continuing into early Tuesday.
By Tuesday afternoon, the rain will clear out, and we’ll get a brief break with brighter skies and seasonable temperatures, topping out around 50 degrees. The temperature roller coaster will continue, and we’ll keep you updated on the shifts in the forecast as we move into the start of April.
Stay safe and enjoy the weekend, New England! And as always, keep checking back for the latest updates on air and online.
