FRIDAY SHOWERS

Rainfall amounts have thus far been light across much of the region, with Boston only receiving 0.01″, though Nantucket experienced its rainiest day in nearly two years, measuring around 2″!

Mostly cloudy skies and light showers will persist throughout Friday, with the best chance for rain occurring through the morning and early afternoon. Most areas can expect up to a tenth of an inch of rain, with slightly higher amounts along the shoreline. Temperatures will remain in the 60s all day. You’ll also notice a breeze, with gusts reaching 25-30 mph, particularly in Eastern Mass.

WEEKEND OUTLOOK

Saturday will closely resemble Friday, though with even less rain coverage. Many areas will stay dry, though skies will remain mostly cloudy to overcast. Any rainfall will be light, with moderate rain again more likely on the Cape and Islands. Winds will stay breezy both Saturday and Sunday, with gusts between 25-30 mph. The ocean will remain rough, and there is a heightened risk of coastal flooding, particularly in southeastern parts of the state. By Sunday, the sun will begin to make an appearance through the clouds. Although it will be drier overall, temperatures will stay in the mid-60s with a continued coastal breeze.

NEXT WEEK’S FORECAST

The upcoming week will feel more like fall. Monday will feature partly cloudy skies and high temperatures in the mid-60s. By Tuesday and Wednesday, highs will reach the upper 60s, with morning lows hovering around 50 degrees. These days should remain dry, cool and crisp, marking the transition into a more autumnal pattern. While rain chances are low, we’ll be monitoring our next potential system late in the week.
