FRIDAY SNOW
Mostly cloudy and cooler conditions will drive the forecast today. Scattered ocean effect snow and rain showers will impact the coastline this morning. The grass, porches, and cold parked cars will get a coating, but roads will remain just wet. Impacts will be low during the day.
A distant ocean storm will swing in some additional moisture into the region by the evening, resulting in steadier rain and snow after 4-5 PM. With dropping nighttime temps, it will become more and more likely the local roads turn slippery and snowy. Give yourself extra time on the roads this evening as 1-2″ of snow will fall east of I-495 with localized totals 3-4″ in a few towns. A slushy coating to 1″ is expected on Cape Cod and Islands where temperatures may be a tad too mild for efficient sticking. Also, snow showers will be more scattered north and west of Worcester with a patchy coating-1″ up to NH.
COLDEST WE’VE SEEN
Brrr! Arctic air will arrive late week and this weekend, dropping temperatures significantly. An isolated snow shower or flurry is still possible Saturday, though most will be dry and partly cloudy. Freezing sunshine will dominate Sunday with highs only in the 20s!
HOLIDAY WEEK
The chill will be slow to erode next week. A weak clipper may come through with some light rain and snow Tuesday morning, otherwise it’s shaping up dry and cold.
