Boston 25 Weather

Arctic chill this weekend

FREEZING THIS WEEKEND

We’re waking up to a cold start today, with temperatures well below freezing and some fresh snow on the ground. Boston Logan Airport recorded 5.2 inches of snow overnight, and while it’s pretty to look at, be cautious on the roads this morning. The untreated surfaces may be slick, so take your time and watch your step!

Looking ahead, it’s going to be a cold weekend across the area, and it’s not going to warm up anytime soon. We’re stuck below freezing all weekend long, with temperatures struggling to even reach the low 20s on Sunday. Be prepared for a frigid stretch, as we’ll stay below the freezing mark all the way through Tuesday.

Tonight, we’re in for some bone-chilling cold, with temperatures plunging into the single digits in some spots. Factor in the wind chill, and it could feel like it’s below zero at times—so be sure to bundle up if you’re heading out for any holiday events tonight!

Sunday brings plenty of sunshine, but don’t expect much relief from the cold. Highs will only reach the mid-20s, with a brutally cold Sunday night ahead. Once again, we’re looking at single digits as the lows, and wind chills will make it feel even colder.

HOLIDAY WEEK

Looking to Monday, we could see a little snow on the horizon. A weak storm system will swing through, bringing the potential for some light snow. While this won’t be a major snow event, we could see anywhere from a coating to 2 inches of snow in the higher elevations. Some of you may even wake up to a White Christmas morning!

But if you’re planning to enjoy the holiday, Christmas Day will be dry with partly sunny skies and highs in the mid-30s—so not quite a “warm” Christmas, but still manageable with a little holiday cheer.

Stay safe, stay warm, and keep an eye on the forecast ahead of the holidays!
