STILL DRY
Let’s plan on bright and breezy weather today. Morning 30s and 40s will warm to the upper 50s this afternoon - still above average. While it’s going to be pleasant overall, the combination of dry conditions and gust 20-25 mph will keep the elevated risk for brush fires in place. If you’re outdoors, stay aware of any fire danger in your area.
The dry stretch continues on Wednesday, with afternoon highs in the mid-50s. The fire risk remains elevated, and we’re still waiting on some much-needed rain.
RAIN ON THE WAY
Finally, relief is in sight! A more substantial weather system will arrive Thursday, bringing with it some rain. The bulk of the rain looks to fall Thursday and Thursday night, followed by scattered showers Friday and possibly Saturday. Rainfall totals around 1-2″ are projected across southern New England. That’s great news with the current drought, but not enough to eliminate it. Hopefully we’ll see some slight improvements to both the drought and wildfire situations.
Cooler air will settle in, bringing more seasonable temperatures for the end of the week and weekend. Expect highs to range from the low 50s to the upper 40s. In the higher elevations across New England, we may even see some snow mix in Friday and Saturday. Light accumulation is possible in the Berkshire, Green and White Mountains, but it’s too soon to promise. Stay tuned for the latest updates!
