Winter chill, and some snow

FRIGID SUNDAY

It’s the coldest day of the season so far, and that chill is going to stick around. Temperatures are in the single digits this morning with feels-like temps in the single digits BELOW zero. We will see plenty of sunshine today, but don’t expect much relief from the cold. Highs will only reach the low 20s, with wind chill values in the single digits all day. We will be close to facing record minimum highs in Boston today! Temps will fall quickly at night once again, and we’re looking at single digits as the lows for the second straight night. Luckily, the wind will lighten up as we round out the weekend.

HOLIDAY WEEK

Monday will be another cold day below freezing. Plan on plenty of sunshine throughout the day. A weak storm system will swing through Monday night into Christmas Eve, bringing the potential for some light snow. While this won’t be a major snow event, some spots will see a patchy coating with 1-3 inches of snow in the higher elevations across northern New England. Some of us will wake up to a White Christmas morning, which is considered 1″ of snow on the ground on Christmas Day.

Christmas Day will be dry with partly sunny skies and highs in the mid-30s—so not quite a “warm” Christmas, but still manageable with a little holiday cheer.

Stay safe, stay warm, and keep an eye on the forecast ahead of the holidays!
