BITTER WINTER CHILL & WINDS

Wind and cold will drive the forecast through Thursday. Widespread gusts 30-40 mph are expected, and may briefly reach 50 mph at elevations. Highs will peak in the 20s this afternoon but wind chills will never go above the lower teens. A mix of sun and clouds will continue with a few rogue flurries. Dress warmly as this is the pattern through Thursday.

WEEKEND SHIFT

More seasonable temperature will return Friday, which means highs in the upper 30s. The forecast will stay dry through then.

A storm will develop over the southeastern US and strengthen over the Atlantic Saturday. For now, it looks like some widespread light snow will fall Saturday morning or midday around a coating-1″, 2″ at most, with a wave of energy. The main storm is trending too far south for substantial snow in southern New England. It’s worth watching closely, because a small shift could bring a few inches of snow to southeastern MA. We’ll continue to monitor the situation and keep you posted.
