Boston 25 Weather

Weather Alert: Snow cleanup, powerful wind gusts, afternoon squalls

NOW PLAYING ABOVE

SNOW, WIND & RAIN

Overnight snow ended by 6 AM with anywhere from a coating to 2″ locally. The highest totals came in north of the Mass Pike with only a coating south. Although most of the day will be dry and partly cloudy, stay alert for a brief rain or snow squall between noon and 5 PM. As a cold front moves through the region during that time, wind gusts will peak and may cause scattered damage. We have a WIND ADVISORY in effect for all of Massachusetts from 10 AM to 10 PM for frequent gusts 40-50 mph, and a few up to 60 mph.

Temperatures will reach the lower 40s today, but drop sharply after the gusty front and scattered squalls pass.

REST OF THE WEEK

Cool sunshine will rule Thursday. It will be freezing all day with bitter wind chills in the single digits and teens.

Another system will come through Friday with developing rain during or after the morning commute. Right now we’re favoring rain most of the day in Boston, Worcester, and south of the Pike. The chance for a wintry mix will increase heading north. Currently it’s iffy whether the MA/NH border sees snow, rain, or a blend of both. North or Concord and Keene, it’s likely going to be snow slowing down travel in central and northern New England.

WEEKEND IN VIEW

The weekend will be chilly with Saturday sunshine and Sunday night snow. Stay tuned for updates, and be sure to check back over the next few days!
