SUMMARY:  WFXT FOX25 is in search of a Reporter for station newscasts.  The successful candidate will excel at regularly breaking and enterprising significant, local stories.  These seasoned journalists love to dig for extra information, love to be live in the field and expect to win.  They should also be hungry to use new technology to present stories and be adept at using social media to gather and break stories. Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience as a Reporter.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Report for station's newscasts.
  • Strong on-air and communication skills in Breaking News coverage.
  • Excel at breaking and enterprising significant, local stories.
  • Strong live presence in the field with a focus on performing active liveshots.
  • Work collaboratively with News Managers, Producers and Assignment Editors.
  • Write stories for air and digital platforms.
  • Regularly post content and engage with audiences on social media platforms.
  • Make public appearances, representing the station in community events.
Employees accomplish their duties using safe work practices and equipment, while being responsible for reporting all injuries, observed unsafe conditions or practices to their leader.  Coach fellow employees on safe work practices as appropriate and contribute to the overall success of the company’s safety program.
Teamwork and the ability to get along with others is an essential function of the job.  Angry, rude, disrespectful, insubordinate and uncooperative behavior can result in discipline, including termination.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university in Journalism or Communications preferred.   A minimum of 5 years professional experience as a Reporter is required. 

REASONING ABILITY:  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must be thoroughly professional in all aspects of journalism. Must be well read on current affairs and have a wide-range working knowledge and understanding of general interest subjects.
