J.D. Martinez wins Hank Aaron Award as American League's top hitter

Before Game 3 of the World Series, J.D. Martinez got the Red Sox some hardware as he voted as the recipient of the Hank Aaron award.

As the team announced that Martinez would replace Andrew Benintendi in left field for Game 3 against the Dodgers, the league announced that he and Christian Yelich of the Milwaukee Brewers were named as the Hank Aaron Award winners for the best offensive performers in both leagues.

Andrew Benintendi a notable omission from Red Sox lineup

The Red Sox released their lineup ahead of Game 3 of the World Series, finally ending the debate of who would start in the outfield with J.D. Martinez thrown into the fray as the series moves to a National League ballpark.

The omission? Andrew Benintendi. After an acrobatic performance in Game 2 at Fenway Park, Red Sox manager Alex Cora decided to roll with Martinez in left field, alongside Mookie Betts and Jackie Bradley Jr. for his outfield.

Benintendi will be available if there's a need for a pinch hitter, and could get thrown in the outfield if needed.

Hold up, Google

If it's on the internet it must be true, right?

Well, as much as we'd like for Google to be correct this time, the Red Sox have not yet won the 2018 World Series title.

Mookie's good deed

After the Red Sox defeated the Dodgers in Game 2 of the World Series, one of the players still had some work to do off the field.

Hours after the game, outfielder Mookie Betts and his cousin were seen making a late-night food delivery to a few homeless people near Boston Public Library. According to a recent story from WEEI Sports Radio, the two were seen around 1:45 am, in 40-degree weather no less.

Batter up?

The Boston Red Sox likely won't know until Friday afternoon whether slugger J.D. Martinez will start Game 3 of the World Series at Dodger Stadium.

Martinez is Boston's main designated hitter, and the DH spot won't be used for the games at the National League park. Martinez can play the outfield, but he's been nursing a sore ankle after slipping in the opener.

Rick Porcello will be the starter for Boston against Walker Buehler, a 24-year-old rookie right-hander.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora says star right fielder Mookie Betts won't start at second base.

Boston leads the Series 2-0. The Dodgers would need a win to avoid an 0-3 deficit that no World Series team has ever recovered from.
