STANLEY CUP FINAL: Bruins rally to win Game 1 at home

BOSTON — The Boston Bruins rallied from two goals down in the second period to win Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final, 4-2, over the St. Louis Blues. The win gives Boston a 1-0 series lead and moves them three wins away from the organization’s seventh Stanley Cup in team history.

After St. Louis made it 2-0 one minute into the second period, the Bruins tied the score with goals from Connor Clifton and Charlie McAvoy in the middle frame. Forward Sean Kuraly slammed home the game-winner less than six minutes into the third period to vault the Bruins to victory.

Brad Marchand added an empty netter to round out the scoring.

Game 2 will take place Wednesday night at Boston’s TD Garden. Puck drop is slated for 8 p.m.

Boston, the champions of the Eastern Conference, reached their third Stanley Cup Final in nine seasons after sweeping the Carolina Hurricanes in the Conference Finals. Conversely, St. Louis appears in the championship round for the first time in 49 years after defeating the San Jose Sharks in six games in the Western Conference Finals.
