At noon Thursday, the team will fly from Boston to Houston ahead of Friday night’s first game of the American League Championship Series. Sox Outfielder Alex Verdugo said Wednesday that the team’s confidence is fueled by the momentum they gained at the start of the post-season.

“Once we got that spot for the wild card game we understood, man, our team is really good,” Verdugo explained.
“We all just give it our all, and play clean ball, we’re going to do good, and we’re feeling real confident.”
They face a familiar opponent in Houston, a team that has been to the ALCS five straight seasons and once was coached by Sox skipper Alex Cora.
So far, Cora has not named a starter for game one of the ALCS, but said he plans to do so on Thursday and added that Chris Sale is still part of the team’s rotation despite struggling against the Rays.
