Here are 10 things to know about Mac Jones, past and present:
- While playing as an Alabama athlete, Jones was able to maintain a 4.0 GPA throughout his time in college.
- Jones came from a family of athletes. His mother, sister, and father all played tennis while his brother played soccer.
- Jones is originally from Florida, and his hometown is Jacksonville, where he played high school football for the Bolles School. As a senior, Jones helped Bolles reach the Florida 4A state championship game.
- He wanted to be drafted by the Patriots before his big shot became reality when the New England team decided to select him during the Pats’ 2021 first-round draft choice.
- Patriots say Jones has displayed nice improvement as he grew into the position of being a quarterback and has shown confidence with making placement throws, accuracy in preventing receivers from breaking stride, and being able to climb into a rhythmic drive throw.
- Jones draws major comparisons to former New England Patriots starting quarterback Tom Brady after draft analysts named Brady as a good NFL comparison to Jones.
