Before Game 3 of the World Series, J.D. Martinez got the Red Sox some hardware as he voted as the recipient of the Hank Aaron award.
As the team announced that Martinez would replace Andrew Benintendi in left field for Game 3 against the Dodgers, the league announced that he and Christian Yelich of the Milwaukee Brewers were named as the Hank Aaron Award winners for the best offensive performers in both leagues.
Martinez the year with a .330 batting average, smashing 43 home runs and piling up 130 RBI in his first year with the Red Sox.
