Five Red Sox named Gold Glove Award finalists

In the midst of an incredible postseason run, the Red Sox have more accomplishments to add onto their resume for the year as the Gold Glove Award finalists were revealed.

Five Red Sox players were named by the MLB as American League finalists for the award, with their entire outfield making the cut.

Mitch Moreland is in the running at first base, going up against Justin Smoak of the Blue Jays and Matt Olson of the Athletics.

Midseason addition Ian Kinsler is a finalist at second base, alongside Jed Lowrie of the Athletics and Rougned Odor of the Rangers.

Andrew Benintendi was named as a finalist in left field with Brett Gardner of the Yankees and Alex Gordon of the Royals, getting things started for the Red Sox outfield.

Jackie Bradley Jr. made the cut in center field against Mike Trout of the Angels and Adam Engel of the White Sox, with Mookie Betts rounding things out in right field against Kole Calhoun of the Angels and divisional rival Aaron Judge of the Yankees.

The winners for the awards will be announced on November 4.

The awards are voted on by the managers and coaches, and are given to players in both leagues based on overall fielding excellence.
