After a successful career in the MLB, Dennis Eckersley made the transition from the mound to the microphone as he moved into the world of broadcasting.

Eckersley's journey is highlighted in a new documentary, entitled "Eck: A Story of Saving," as he discusses his second career in the baseball world and talks about the transition to a whole new environment after a successful stint on the mound in the MLB.

The documentary provides an in-depth look into the life and mindset of a closer, major league baseball player, and professional athlete in general, all with solid interviews to back up Eckersley's historic career on the mound.

With Mark McGwire, Tony La Russa and reporters who covered his journey all showering praise about the former Athletics, Red Sox, Indians, Cubs, and Cardinals pitcher, those watching get a real look at how dominant Eckersley was and how rare his talent was.

Meanwhile, the documentary also goes in depth on a historic moment that didn't go in Eckersley's favor: Kirk Gibson's home run from Game 1 of the 1988 World Series. The moment turned into one that defined Eckersley's career, but the documentary shows how it turned him into the man you see and hear from the broadcast booth today.

As if the documentary didn't go into enough, Red Sox fans will get to hear Eckersley's feelings about a notable moment with David Price on a team plane after a comment made during a Red Sox game broadcast that caught the attention of the 2018 playoff hero.

The documentary airs on the MLB Network Thursday night at 8 p.m. EST.
