BOSTON — Red Sox pitcher Chris Sale experienced symptoms of a stomach illness Sunday afternoon and was taken to Mass General Hospital for treatment and overnight observation.
On Monday evening, Sale was released from the hospital and will join his teammates in Houston for Game 3 of the ALCS.
The Red Sox released the news shortly after 9:30 p.m. in a tweet:
From #RedSox: Red Sox LHP Chris Sale reported a stomach illness today and was admitted to MGH for observation this afternoon. He will be kept overnight for evaluation and any further updates will be released when available.

Sale pitched four innings, allowing one hit and two earned runs while taking the loss in Game One of the ALCS. He showed no ill effects in the clubhouse after the game and did not seem to be suffering from any illness.
