BOSTON — Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy has been suspended for one game for a hit to the head of Josh Anderson of the Blue Jackets during Game Six of the Eastern Conference Semifinal.
McAvoy was assessed a two-minute penalty during Monday's game, but the NHL's Department of Player Safety determined the hit to Anderson's head warranted a one-game suspension.
The Bruins open the Eastern Conference Final series against Carolina at home Thursday night at 8 p.m.
