DEDHAM, Mass. — Just one week removed from dropping to the second-ranked team in the Boston 25 High School Football Top 10 Poll, the Catholic Memorial Knights reclaimed the top ranking in the commonwealth following a 42-26 win over La Salle in Rhode Island.
The Knights, who earned all but one of the possible first-place votes, were pushed into the top spot after former No. 1 Central Catholic suffered a big loss, 49-14, to then-No. 7 St. John’s Prep. The Eagles used the massive win to vault themselves into the No. 3 spot in our poll while the Raiders fell all the way to No. 7 with the loss.

The Everett Crimson Tide earned the only other first-place vote available, moving up a spot to No. 2 in the state after their 38-6 win over Somerville. Lincoln-Sudbury also saw a slight bump in the rankings, moving up a spot to No. 4 after their 39-0 blanking of Melrose.
Despite their thrilling victory this week, Mansfield dropped one spot to No. 5 after needing double-overtime to move past North Attleboro, 31-29.
No. 6 Xaverian, No. 8 Reading and No. 9 Natick all maintained their rankings this week after earning victories over Bridgewater-Raynham, Barnstable and Walpole, respectively. The No. 10 Marblehead Magicians make their debut in our Top 10 poll following their big 54-20 shellacking of Lynn Classical; they captured the last spot after the previous tenth-ranked team, the Barnstable Red Hawks, narrowly fell, 18-14, to No. 8 Reading.
