NAGOYA, Japan — The world's oldest living man, 112-year-old Yasutaro Koide of Japan, has some words of advice for anyone who wants to live a long, healthy life.

"The best thing is to not overdo," Koide, who officially received the "world's oldest man" title from Guinness World Records on Friday, told The Associated Press. The former tailor received a plaque and vase as three of his seven children, two of his nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild looked on.

Koide, born March 13, 1903, also said to avoid smoking and drinking. His granddaughter, Aya Kikuchi, added that "his lifestyle is one that avoids stress," according to the newspaper Chunichi Shimbun.

The world's oldest living woman, Susannah Mushatt Jones of Brooklyn, New York, recently turned 116.
