LUNENBURG, Mass. — A boat crash on Lake Shirley sent one woman to the hospital on Saturday afternoon in Lunenburg after, police say, a bass boat hit a kayaker.
Ron Wilson, a neighbor, told Boston 25 News that people use the boat launch on his Lunenburg property to go fishing. The man who crashed his boat took off from that launch, according to Wilson.
Police say a fisherman crashed his boat on the other side of the lake just after 12:30 p.m., striking a woman who was kayaking. That woman was rushed to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
"We have the public boat launch, so there was an ambulance here and a couple police cruisers, and I just happen to see the flashing lights on there," Wilson said. "So I went down there to see what was going on."
Wilson described how another fisherman rushed to help the victim, who appeared unconscious, when all of this happened.

"One of our fishermen just happened to be here fishing," Wilson said. "He had to jump in the lake to get her up and into the other boat, so they could bring her in."
Police are still investigating the cause of the crash, but they do believe that the victim will be okay.
"Well you just hope they're alright and it’s not too serious, you feel bad something like that happened," Wilson added.
Wilson says he knows the fisherman who crashed since he launches his boat off Wilson's property.
"He was shaken up, a little distraught," Wilson described. "Couldn't believe what happened."
That fisherman told Wilson he didn't see the Kayaker.
