BOSTON — A woman who was hit by a car while crossing the street in the city's West Roxbury neighborhood has died, Boston Police confirmed Wednesday.
The woman's identity has not been released.
The pedestrian crash occurred around 4 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Centre and Hastings streets. The driver remained on scene. Police are now trying to figure out why the driver of the car didn’t stop, and whether solar glare had any factor in the crash.
Police had not released any information on possible charges in the crash by 2 p.m. Tuesday.
The crash saddened people who live and work nearby.
Yelsy Viloroi, who works at The Real Deal deli, told Boston 25 News that the victim and her husband had finished eating pizza there right before the crash occurred. They were ready to cross the street to get to their car.
"They always come here, they are customers. They were eating in here. When they tried to cross the line, the car just hit her. She was flying all the way to the cross line," Viloroi said.
The driver stopped and tried to help the victim, Viloroi said.
