What does the inside of a hurricane look like?

ATLANTIC OCEAN — An ocean drone captures the inside of a hurricane. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Admin posted this cool video of the inside of Hurricane Sam.

Saildrone Inc. and the NOAA have released the first video by an uncrewed surface vehicle (USV) across the Atlantic Ocean.

Hurricane Sam is a category 4 hurricane.

“Equipped with a specially designed “hurricane wing,” enabling it to operate in extreme wind conditions, SD 1045 is braving Hurricane Sam in the open ocean, collecting real-time observations for numerical hurricane prediction models, which are expected to yield new insights into how large and destructive tropical cyclones grow and intensify.”

Saildrones help scientists understand the paths and processes that hurricanes go through and are used during the peak of Hurricane Season.
