Weymouth native George Jung released from prison

FORT DIX, NJ (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Convicted drug trafficker and Weymouth native George Jung was released from prison this week after serving nearly 20 years behind bars.

According to TMZ, the 71-year-old was released from the FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey. He was scheduled to be released in November.

Jung tells the website he was released to a transition facility on the west coast.

Jung's name was made famous after he was portrayed by Johnny Depp in the film "Blow." He began as a marijuana dealer before shifting his focus to cocaine trafficking, working alongside Pablo Escobar's Medellin cartel.
