WELLESLEY, Mass. (AP) - Wellesley College has received its largest donation in school history.
The $50 million donation came from two alumnae who asked to remain anonymous. A statement from the college on Monday says the donation will create greater opportunities for women and empower the next generation of leaders.
The prestigious women's college announced the donation as it starts a $500 million fundraising campaign, also the biggest in school history.
Opened in 1875, the Massachusetts college with 2,400 students claims alumnae including former Secretaries of State Madeleine Albright and Hillary Rodham Clinton and journalist Diane Sawyer.
Clinton made a video appearance at the fundraising campaign's kickoff Friday, saying the school is a special place that helps women discover their talents and set their own paths.
