(MyFoxBoston.com/AP) -- A portion of the bridge that once led to Squantum's Long Island was demolished on Wednesday afternoon.
Crews used explosives to tear down sections of the bridge in the second phase of demolition.
The first phase of the demolition took place in late March.
The bridge was shutdown in October over safety concerns, cutting off access to Boston's largest rehab facility and homeless shelter.
Demolition was expected to cost upwards of $20 million.
A housing solution for those who lived in the housing shelter is still being built.
