BOSTON — "The lines are just horrendous sometimes you come here," said David Geozey, who ended up spending more time at Logan Airport than he had planned.
"Today I actually missed my flight because I was in a line waiting for somebody over at JetBlue and I was two minutes late. So now I have to wait for the next flight, so the lines are killing people."
The Transportation Security Administration’s goal is trying to do something about that.
On Saturday they held a one-day, "fast-track" hiring event to recruit full and part-time TSA officers to work at Logan Airport. The goal is to have many of the new employees on board during the busy summer travel season.

"We speed up the process instead of taking several weeks, we do a lot of it in one day," said Robert Snyder, the Assistant Federal Security Director for TSA at Boston Logan Airport.
During Saturday's "fast-track," candidates attended a classroom information session and filled out applications.
Some qualified for an interview and were fingerprinted – all in only a few hours.
"We've had people after a fast-track come on board as short as two weeks…the average is maybe a month, six weeks," Snyder said.
The minimum qualifications to be a TSA officer include:
- Being 18 years or older
- Being a U.S. citizen or national
- Having a high school diploma, GED or security experience equivalent
"I know it's hard work," a passenger said. "They have to go through everyone's bags and stuff. It's for our own safety, but I love the short lines."
