A woman flying from Ghana to Washington, D.C., gave birth to a baby boy who just didn’t want to wait until landing to come out.
A Facebook post by a woman on board United Flight 997 Sunday shared video of the new mom with her baby, wrapped in an airline blanket.
On board @united Flight UA 977 today,a lovely baby boy was born. The baby Who was due late February decided to arrive 34,000 ft above see level. Dr. Ansah-Addo a Ghanaian practicing in the USA made himself available when the pilot called for assistance of medical personnel on board. With assistance from the whole United crew ,a bouncy baby boy was delivered 2hours to landing. The flight was met on arrival by paramedics upon landing at the Washington Dulles international airport. The baby and his mother GG are currently under medical care.

In a statement to NBC News, United Airlines said its crew “acted quickly” to help with the delivery, and said, “We were especially thrilled to see the plane land with one extra, especially beautiful, customer onboard.”
The flight had been in the air for approximately six hours before the woman went into labor, CNN reported. A doctor and a nurse happened to be on board the flight, as well as a United flight attendant who is a former nurse, CNN reported.
A passenger on board the plane, Tiani Warren, told CNN she saw the mother give birth on the floor of the cabin in a space near the emergency exits. Warren said the entire thing took around 2 1/2 hours, and the mother was back in her seat before landing.
Dr. Stephen Ansah-Addo, a dermatology resident at the University of Michigan, was on the flight and heard the overhead call for help. “I couldn’t believe it was happening, but I was trying to stay calm,” he told ABC News. “This is the reason why you go into medicine, to help people. This is someone that really needed help, because there was nobody else there. This is the kind of medicine where you can make a difference in people’s lives.”
Paramedics were on hand to meet the plane when it landed, as well as a United employee who had a balloon and a handwritten card that read, “On behalf of the United team at Washington Dulles, congratulations on your baby boy!” ABC News reported.
