FLINT, Mich. — A 19-year-old woman was fatally shot Saturday by police after she drove up next to an officer during a Juneteenth celebration and opened fire, investigators said.

The officer, who was not injured, then shot the woman around 2:14 p.m., MLive.com reported.

The woman was taken to a hospital where she died.

No one else was injured.

The Flint Police Department requested the Michigan State Police to investigate.

The incident occurred during the Champions Parade, which honors the city’s athletic and community leaders. The parade was part of a weekend-long series of celebrations in honor of Juneteenth, MLive.com reported.
