PHILADELPHIA — A truck trailer that had thousands of dollars of dimes inside was broken into in a Walmart parking lot in Northwest Philadelphia on Thursday morning.

The truck was estimated to have about $750,000 worth of dimes inside, according to KYW-TV. The dimes were being transported from the Philadelphia Mint to Florida, the AP reported.
It is not clear where the driver of the truck was during the break-in, according to KYW-TV. He noticed that the door was open when he got back to the truck on Thursday, WPVI reported.
“There’s been a lot of cargo thefts here and there in Northeast Philly and South Philadelphia over the ensuing months where we’ve had lamb, chicken, TVs, refrigerators, etc. taken, alcohol,” Philadelphia Police Northeast Detective Division Capt. John Ryan told KYW-TV.
