RALEIGH, N.C. — Residents at a North Carolina apartment complex have awakened to find the gas stolen from their vehicles and a pile of acorns left behind.
Jessica Rivera had gas siphoned from her truck three times in the last 10 days and next to the gas cap were three acorns, WRAL reported.
“I just don’t know how they got in there to get it out,” she said. “I feel like the reason why the acorns were in there is to let their partners know that they’ve already emptied that car.”
She was not the only one. Several neighbors and the maintenance man at the apartment complex have had gas stolen from their vehicles.
“Any car that had a gas tank that you can pull open ... they were open,” Rivera said.
She has now installed cameras around her apartment and filed a police report.
