Subaru is recalling 4,409 Ascents that have 20-inch wheels due to the possibility of a sudden loss of pressure, according to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration.
According to the NHTSA, if a tire on the Ascent has already been damaged, it may experience a sudden loss of air pressure, increasing the risk of a crash.
According to Subaru, “the internal tire bead may have been damaged during the wheel mounting process,” the NHTSA recall report said.
Subaru says it is aware of 10 technical reports in the U.S. market between Feb. 17 and March 31, according to the company.
No crashes or injuries have been reported.
Owner notification letters will be sent by June 6, 2023. Dealers will replace all four tires, free of charge, the company said. Owners can contact Subaru’s customer service at 1-844-373-6614 for more information.
