Drug company AvKARE has announced the recall of a single lot of sildenafil and a single lot of trazodone after the two medications were inadvertently packaged together, the Food and Drug Administration said.
Sildenafil is the active ingredient of Viagra, the FDA said.
Trazodone is used for depression.
The FDA said the mistake happened when the medications were bottled at a third-party facility.
The specific lots include,
Product | Lot | Expiration Date | Bottle count | NDC Number |
---|---|---|---|---|
Sildenafil Tablets, USP | 36884 | 03/2022 | 100 | 42291-748-01 |
Trazodone Tablets, USP | 36783 | 6/2022 | 1000 | 42291-834-10 |
If someone mistakenly takes sildenafil it could pose a risk to those with underlying medical issues. It could interact with nitrates in some medications like nitroglycerin, lowering blood pressure too much.
Taking trazodone by mistake could mean sedation, dizziness and blurred vision among side effects.
If you have questions about the recall, contact AvKARE at 1-855-361-3993 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. CST.
The FDA advises you to contact your doctor if you have had any ill effects from taking either of these medications.
