If you go all out decorating for Christmas you will need to check your connections. A wireless decorative tree light controller was recalled because it can catch fire.
About 44,600 wireless decorative tree light controllers were part of the recall, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said.
They were sold by Walmart and CrackerBarrel under the Mr. Christmas brand while Target sold them under the Wondershop brand, the CPSC said. They were on the market from July to November selling for between $25 and $40.
They are made of two parts, a controller that has a lever that turns on and off the lights and a separate plug-in receiver that is where the tree is plugged into. The receiver that plugs into the outlet can overheat and catch fire.
The receiver has “Mr. Christmas” printed on it and model numbers 39611, 39612 or 39630.
If you have the recalled device you should stop using it and return it to the store from where it was purchased for a refund, the CPSC said.
For more information, call Mr. Christmas at 800-489-6328 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. MT, email or visit the company’s website.
