The incident happened Sunday afternoon at a home in Dickson, Oklahoma, when Brittany Parker saw a monkey sitting on her porch, KXII reported.

She said it was curious at first, packing back and forth and at one point jumping off the railing and hitting her door.

But then the monkey tried to get into the home, breaking off part of the door handle, KXII reported.

She said she had to hold on to keep the door closed and also called the police.

When officers arrived, she went outside to talk to them.

That’s when the monkey attacked her, before running off.

“He jumped up on my back and landed on my head,” Parker told KOKH. “He started grabbing handfuls of hair and just ripped it out. He ripped my ear almost completely off of my head.”

Parker told KTEN that she had called a friend and the monkey went to that person’s car, slapped him across the face and pulled the man’s hair. The man ended up shooting and killing the monkey.

In Oklahoma, primates are technically domesticated animals, so there is no permit needed to own one as a pet, KTEN reported.

The case has been given to the district attorney’s office because of how extensive Parker’s injuries were, KSII reported.

Parker said she has to have plastic surgery to repair the physical damage to her ear, according to KOKH.

Doctors are also concerned about her hearing as her injuries heal, KXII reported.

KTEN reported the monkey, whose name was Jack, lived at a home across a tree line from Parker’s home. The owner’s name has not been released according to KOKH.
