Michelle Obama will talk with a number of notable figures in a series of intimate conversations in a new partnership with Spotify.
In The Michelle Obama Podcast, the former first lady sits down with loved ones and colleagues to talk about important and relevant topics: mentorship, friendship, marriage, civic duty and self-care.
“I don’t want this podcast to be prescriptive or present anyone’s ideas as truth. I just want it to feel like we’re sitting together on a park bench or in the booth of a restaurant with the jukebox playing,” said the 56-year-old Ivy League graduate and mother of two. “Most importantly, I hope this podcast sparks ideas and topics that all you listeners can open up with in your own circles … Maybe it’ll inspire you to have some conversations with loved ones that you’ve been putting off.”
Notable guests like former President Barack Obama, comedian Conan O’Brien and Michelle Obama’s mother and brother will appear on the show.
Michelle Obama’s friends and former colleagues from her time at the Chicago Planning Department, including Kelly Dibble and mentor Valerie Jarrett, will also be featured.
“In this time of social distancing, it’s more important than ever to invest in the relationships that make us who we are. And I hope The Michelle Obama Podcast can be a place for you all to dig deeper inside your own lives and relationships and start up some of these conversations with one another as well,” Michelle Obama wrote on social media.
The Michelle Obama Podcast will be available July 29 on Spotify only. Barack Obama will be the first feature guest.
