Miami Dolphins CB Xavien Howard arrested on domestic violence charges

DAVIE, Fla. — Miami Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard was arrested Sunday night in South Florida on domestic violence charges, authorities said.

According to a report by the Davie Police Department, Howard, 26, is accused of pushing his fiancee against a mirrored glass wall in the hallway of their bedroom, the Sun-Sentinel reported. The report further states Howard began arguing with the woman, who is the mother of their three children, “over a recent purchase of a purse at a store,” WLPG reported.

Howard had grabbed the woman’s arm, but after letting go she landed on his crutches, injuring her right arm, the Sun-Sentinel reported. According to the police report, Howard’s fiancee had scratches and redness on her right wrist and forearm, the newspaper reported. Howard complained of knee pain.

Howard appeared in a Broward County courtroom Monday morning, WSVN reported. He was granted a $3,000 bond, which is pending, according to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.

Howard’s arrest came the day the Dolphins upset the New England Patriots 27-24 in the regular-season finale for both teams. Howard, who made the Pro Bowl in 2018, has been on injured reserve since Oct. 29 and was not with the team during Sunday’s game, WPLG reported.

“We are aware of the situation and currently gathering information," the Dolphins said in a statement. "We will have no further comment at this time.”
