BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. — A man has died after he was attacked by multiple dogs at a house in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, on Thursday.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, the Brooklyn Center Police Department said that officers were called to a house in the 5700 block of Halifax Avenue N. for a dog attack. When officers arrived, they found four dogs attacking a person in a backyard.
A neighbor had called the police just before 1 p.m., according to WCCO.
Authorities said the dogs did not live at the house where the attack occurred. They were staying there for the day, according to KARE. The victim was taking care of them at the time of the attack.
Officers hit at least one of the dogs with a less lethal round, police said. First responders at the scene provided aid to the victim and transported him to the hospital for surgery.
A police spokesman confirmed to KARE that the man had died from his injuries.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner identified the victim as Dezmond Thomas Trawick, 22, according to WCCO.
Police said all of the dogs were taken to Pets Under Police Security (PUPS) and were quarantined pending “a dangerous dog evaluation process.”
The Brooklyn Center Police Department said officers were assisted by the Brooklyn Center Fire Department, City of Crystal Police and Community Service Officers, Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office and North Memorial EMS Paramedics.
