LAS VEGAS — Amanda Nowak hid inside her home while a strange man threatened to rape and kill her.
Thanks to Nowak’s Ring doorbell camera, the man, whom booking documents identify only as “John Doe,” has been charged with stalking, coercion and obstructing a police officer, KLAS-TV reported.
The ordeal began Wednesday, when Nowak was home alone in her downtown Las Vegas residence and the stranger made his threats.
In the Ring video, the man can be heard repeatedly asking, “Are you sure? Are you positive? I just have a few questions for you.”
Nowak told KLAS-TV that she never engaged with the man and called 911, while her husband, who was not home, accessed the Ring’s intercom system to ask the man who he was.
The man responded, “What I’m looking for is the girl in the house ‘cause I’m going to rape her and kill her. Can you have her open the door?” the TV station reported.
The man told Nowak’s husband that he had a knife and gun, but he can be seen walking away from the property moments later, KLAS-TV reported.
In turn, Nowak posted the doorbell camera footage to her Facebook page to warn others about the man, and he was arrested after someone recognized him from the social media post, the TV station reported.
“Thank you, everyone! I’m just glad he’s off the streets,” Nowak posted to her Facebook page following the man’s arrest.
