ROCKY HILL, Conn. — Police in Rocky Hill are looking for four men who they said jumped a homeowner in the man’s driveway, trying to steal his car.
The Rocky Hill Police Department said that the incident happened on the evening of April 10 when the car’s owner saw someone sitting in his red Infinity.
TMZ reported the car was unlocked.
The car’s owner approached the alleged would-be carjacker and a fight started. Then three more people showed up and started hitting and kicking the victim.
Eventually, the four alleged robbers left the man’s property in a Mercedes sedan, police said.
Neither the four men, who were wearing masks at the time of the alleged assault, nor the getaway vehicle have been found, police said in a news release.
A video of the incident was captured by the homeowner’s Ring camera.
The car’s owner was injured in the fight and was treated at a local hospital, his family said, according to WFSB.
Town officials told WFSB that if something like this happens to you, you should say inside your home and call 911 instead of taking matters into your own hand.
“They could’ve had a weapon or initially he thought it was one guy, then another one, then another, then another so you never know what situation you’ll be on what’s going to be thrown at you,” Rocky Hill town manager Ray Carpentino, told the news station.
“Thank God that he wasn’t seriously hurt. We’re seeing a lot of these incidents throughout the state and the country that people are intervening, and the suspect may have a weapon,” Rocky Hill police Sgt. Jeffrey Foss-Rugan said, according to WVIT.
