MORRISVILLE, N.C. — A Delta Air Lines jet skidded off a runway at Raleigh-Durham International Airport during icy conditions on Friday night, causing the airfield to be closed for about an hour.
Delta Flight 5501 landed safely at about 9 p.m. EST after arriving from Washington, D.C., but while taxiing to the gate at the North Carolina airport, it rolled into the mud, WTVD-TV reported.
“The flight’s 13 customers deplaned safely. We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience,” a Delta spokesperson said in a statement.
The 19 passengers on board the aircraft were not injured, WTVD reported.
Airport officials said the runway reopened shortly before 10:30 p.m. EST, allowing flights to resume landing at and departing from the airport, according to the television station.
The plane was towed from the area just before 7 a.m. EST on Saturday, WRAL-TV reported.
