Coronavirus: ACT, SAT exams on hold; what are students’ next steps?

Students who were scheduled to take the April and May SAT and ACT tests now have more time to prepare for the exams because of the coronavirus.

The ACT test was supposed to be given on April 4. It has since been delayed until June 13, The Washington Post reported.

The SAT test scheduled on May 2 has been canceled; however, the test scheduled for June 6 is still on the calendar, the College Board said in an alert to students, CNN reported.

An SAT session had been scheduled for March 14, but some students were not able to take it. They, along with those whose tests were canceled in May, will have their money refunded, the Post reported. The College Board will have more testing dates available “as soon as feasible.”

As for the ACTs, the agency that administers the test, will send information for those students who were registered for the April 4 session instructions to reschedule the test for either June 13 or another day.

The College Board also administers Advanced Placement testing, normally in May. But school closures may impact students’ review sessions and the actual taking of the tests. The nonprofit says they may also allow some students to complete the tests at home, the Post reported.
