Model and author Chrissy Teigen revealed that she has been hospitalized and is on bed rest after experiencing “very bad” bleeding.

Teigen, 34, is currently pregnant with her third child.

She took to Instagram this weekend to reassure fans that she is getting the best care at an unnamed hospital and to explain her situation.

“I’ve been on bed rest for a few weeks. And that’s, like, super serious bed rest -- like get up to quickly pee and that’s it. I would take baths twice a week, no showering,” she said.

“I was always, always bleeding,” Teigen continued. “I’m about halfway through pregnancy and the blood has been going for a month, maybe a little less than a month ... Definitely not spotting. A lot of people spot, and it’s usually fine. Mine was a lot.”

Teigen said she would see blood every time she used the bathroom and even saw it when she was “just laying there.”

But Teigen knew the issue was more serious when the bleeding became more consistent.

“Today the big difference was that it kind of was like if you were to turn a faucet onto low and leave it there,” she said Sunday. “It was at the point today where it was never stopping bleeding. That’s obviously very bad."

Teigen said that despite the bleeding, she feels good and she loves being pregnant.

“I’m usually at my happiest pregnant, mood-wise. I feel happier than I do not pregnant. That’s why it’s so so hard for me to come to terms with," she said.

Teigen then told fans that she would appreciate it if they, medical personnel included, would stop giving her medical advice because it makes her anxious.

“You have to trust me that I have very good doctors who know what they’re doing, who know the entire story,” she said. “There’s so much more than you can ever imagine. I share a lot, but not absolutely everything. So trust me when I say they know.”

Teigen went on to further explain the issues she’s been experiencing while pregnant.

“In the simplest of terms, we can say my placenta is really really weak ... So I feel really good. The baby is so healthy ... He’s so strong. I’m so excited for him,” she said. "Basically he’s the strongest, coolest dude in the [worst] house. His house is just, like, falling apart. It didn’t have a good foundation to begin with. He didn’t have the strongest chance at the very very beginning. So all we’re doin now is trying to make sure that he’s got a lot of fluid around him and that I’m resting as much as possible. It’s just hard because there' snot much you can do.

“Basically if I can make it through the next few weeks, if little boy can make it through the next few weeks, then we can go from there and be able to get through the danger zone. We have to get through this first. It is scary.”

Teigen and singer-songwriter husband John Legend are also parents to daughter Luna, 4, and son Miles, 2.

The celebrity couple met in 2006 when Teigen, then 21, starred as Legend’s love interest in the music video for his song, “Stereo.” The two became engaged in 2011 and wed in 2014.
