Boy, 5, suffers life-threatening injuries in apparent accidental shooting in Indiana, police say

ELKHART, Ind. — A 5-year-old boy remains in an Indiana hospital after he was seriously hurt in an apparent accidental shooting, authorities said.

According to the South Bend Tribune and WSBT, the incident occurred about 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Four Seasons Mobile Home Park in Elkhart. Elkhart police arrived to find a boy with a gunshot wound to the chest, the news outlets reported.

Crews rushed the child to a South Bend Hospital, where he is being treated for life-threatening injuries, police said.

Police continue to investigate the case, according to the news outlets. No further information was immediately available.
