NELSON LAGOON, Alaska — A 5.3 magnitude earthquake struck off the Alaska coast overnight, the U.S. Geological Survey is reporting.
According to the agency, the quake, which occurred shortly before 1:30 a.m. EDT Friday, was centered about 26 miles northwest of Nelson Lagoon at a depth of 128 miles.
No information about possible damage or injuries was immediately available. Authorities have not issued any tsunami watches or warnings in the area.
