An Alabama man died Friday when he fell off an interstate highway bridge after he was struck by his own car, which was hit by two vehicles during a five-vehicle crash, authorities said.
Herbert J. Lewis, 60, of Boligee, was standing on the roadway when he was struck by the 2008 Ford Escape he had been driving at about 3:22 a.m. CDT on Interstate 59 in Greene County, Cpl. Reginal King of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency told reporters.
Lewis’ vehicle was struck by a 2022 Freightliner tractor-trailer and a 2008 Dodge Ram, AL.com reported.
The Greene County resident was pronounced dead at the scene, the website reported.
Two other vehicles were involved in the wreck after the initial impact, according to AL.com.
No other information was available, as state troopers continued to investigate the wreck, the website reported.
