VALDOSTA, Ga. — Four south Georgia teens are facing murder charges in connection with the shooting death of 44-year-old man in Lowndes County, authorities said.
According to the Valdosta Daily Times and WALB-TV, the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office said the incident occurred about 3:30 p.m. Sunday during a home invasion on White Water Road. As the teens tried to rob the home’s occupants, one resident went into a closet and called a neighbor for help, deputies said. The neighbor grabbed his gun and headed over to the home, where he was shot dead, the news outlets reported.
A witness then followed the teens as they fled the scene and called 911, deputies said. Authorities found the suspects on Madison Highway and arrested them, WALB reported.
The Sheriff’s Office later identified two of the suspects as Valdosta residents Jeremy Tucker and Jushon Ramsey, both 17, the Daily Times reported. Deputies did not release the names of the other two, who are 16-year-old boys, due to their age, according to the newspaper. Authorities also have not released the name of the victim, the news outlets reported.
