LUFKIN, Texas — A 10-year-old Texas boy was hit by a car Sunday morning after he snuck out of his house to buy a Mother’s Day gift, investigators said.
Lufkin Police said the boy went to a Dollar General where he bought candy and a card for his mother and at 8:55 a.m. while crossing the street on his way home was hit by a Chevrolet Malibu, KYTX reported.
The driver told officers he did not see the child.
The boy suffered a broken leg. He was taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
“Please say a prayer for a speedy recovery for this thoughtful young man,” police said on social media. “We ask that you send some thoughts and prayers his mother’s way as well.”
