QUEENS, N.Y. — A woman from Queens, New York, is accused of throwing her dog into an apartment building trash chute in January.
Dominiqua Parrish was charged this week with attempted aggravated cruelty to animals and second-degree criminal mischief among other charges, WNBC reported.
Prosecutors said Parrish threw the small dog into the hallway from her apartment, then later, grabbed the animal by the neck and took it into a garbage room. She left a short time later without the dog. The room has a chute that leads to the apartment trash compactor, WNBC reported.
A building employee and another person were able to get the dog out of the trash compactor, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors said when Parrish was questioned, she apparently said, "I threw the dog down the incinerator because I don't like him," WNBC reported.
The Queens County district attorney said the dog survived but had cuts, bruises and a broken rib, according to ASPCA veterinarians.
