President Donald Trump is scheduled to arrive in London on Monday on his first state visit to the United Kingdom since taking office, but he is already off on the wrong foot, it seems.
In an interview Friday with The Sun, a British tabloid, Trump was asked about comments in 2016 attributed to the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, calling him "divisive" and a "misogynist."
Trump responded to the question saying: "I didn't know that. What can I say? I didn't know that she was nasty," he said, according to the BBC.
He also said he thought she would make a “very good” princess. “It is nice, and I am sure she will do excellently,” Trump said.

The Sun released an audio recording of the interview and posted it on its website Saturday, but by Sunday, Trump was denying that he called Markle "nasty," even though he's heard in the recording saying just that.
"I never called Meghan Markle 'nasty,'" he said in a post on Twitter on Sunday. He then accused The Sun of making false statements.
"Made up by the Fake News Media, and they got caught cold!"
I never called Meghan Markle “nasty.” Made up by the Fake News Media, and they got caught cold! Will @CNN, @nytimes and others apologize? Doubt it!

Markle, who married Britain's Prince Harry last year and recently gave birth to the couple's first child, was a supporter of 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and a vocal critic of Trump. She's still on maternity leave, so she won't be part of the state dinner Queen Elizabeth II is hosting for Trump this week, but Markle's husband will.
